EZR Install Large Security Cage For Dangerous Goods Storage

EZR Shelving has completed the installation of a security cage for storing 250 pallets of dangerous goods within a large warehouse. The customer required segregation of these goods for safety reasons, so the EZR team came up with a cost-effective plan to create a secure yet practical storage solution.

An existing back-to-back run of 10.5m tall pallet racking provided the perfect starting point for this project. By splitting the bays apart and pushing one row against the back wall of the warehouse, a 40m long by 5m deep footprint for an enclosure was created.

Anti-collapse mesh was fitted to the back of the outer 12 bay run of pallet racking with 100mm stand-off brackets to allow for pallet overhang. A mesh roof was suspended between the racking uprights to contain any items in the event of an explosion with mesh openings of 20 x 100mm to prevent small items from escaping.

Despite safety and security being essential in this warehouse security cage, being able to access the products stored within was also important: Two push-bar fire exit doors were incorporated to provide emergency access, whist 4.3m high double doors allowed access to the cage for the 4.1m high mast on the reach forklift truck.
